I love a good racing car game to give me a dose of adrenaline on the train to work in the morning. Unfortunately, RoadChallenge is not a very good racing game.
Like many mobile games of its ilk, RoadChallenge is a top-down view vertical scrolling affair whereby you need to move your vehicle up the road without crashing into anything coming the other way. At the same time, cars traveling in the same direction must be avoided by overtaking them. The graphics in this one are hardly going to worry the Gran Turismo developers. In fact, a twelve year-old could've probably drawn them better. There's precious little variation in the green, tree-lined backgrounds and the types of cars don't change, aside from the cop cars that pop up from time-to-time. The gameplay too is tediously repetitive, although the fast and frenetic action is fun for a little while. There are a number of options which you can tinker with in order to customize the gameplay and add just a little variety. For instance, you can change the game speed and the width of the road in order to make it harder or easier depending on your skill level. There's also a high scores table so you can challenge yourself. Unfortunately your running score isn't displayed in-game which is a rather glaring and shameful omission on the part of the developer. RoadChallenge is a fun time-waster for about two minutes, after which it's really not worth wasting your time on.
